São Paulo's attractive zoo is one of the five biggest in the world. Over 3,000 reptiles, birds and mammals live in the park in their natural habitats. The zoo covers an area of over 800,000 square meters of natural Atlantic forest and is home to numerous wild animals from Brazil and Africa.

Approximately 10% of the population of the world visits a zoo or aquarium to each year.

Located in an area of 824.529 m2 of Bush Atlantic original, the Park has springs of historical stream of Ypiranga, whose waters form a lake that receives exotic birds which pleases the eye.

The Zôo of São Paulo was created in June of 1957, from an instruction of Mr. Governador Jânio.

This great zoo made a modest beginning. The first exotic animals such as lions, camels, bears and elephants had been acquired of a small particular circus and the Brazilian animals as ounces and roosters of the mountain range, had been acquired in Manaus.
