This is an area where gigantic structures and curved forms complement the enormous free space and where the various units show different aspects of Latin American culture and art.

Memorial of Latin America was inaugurated in 18 of March of 1989, with the concept and the cultural project developed by the anthropologist Darcy Ribeiro. Since then the memorial has attracted visitors from far and wide who are interested in Latin American culture.

The Memorial foments research and divulges its results. It supports the expression of the Latin American identity and stimulates its creative development. It co- ordinates initiatives of scientific, artistic and educational institutions of Brazil and other Latin American countries.

The memorial spreads the history of the Latin American people to the new generations of students who become aware of their rich cultural heritage.
