This marathon held each year on December 31st, is a competition to end the year in style. In addition to the professional athletes, there are thousands of amateurs and recreational runners who make the whole event a real party as well as a place to show their personal style and good sense of humor.
On 31st December more than 15,000 runners gather here to participate in the marathon. The Esportiva.Net Gazette prepared a program of training of twelve weeks to run the 15 kilometers of Is Silvestre.
Various athletes of Sau Polo participate in the race with gusto and bring back laurels for the city. This event is eagerly followed by all residents of the city. The winners have emerged from this city. The São Paulo supremacy was only broken when the miner Jose Tibúrcio Dos Santos emerged victorious in 1941.
In the following year, Joaquin Gonçalves Da Silva reconquered the trophy for São Paulo and brought back glory to the city.
