The 17th São Paulo International Short Film Festival is the leading event for short films in Latin- America and a very special meeting place where filmmakers can exchange their views and experiences.
The remarkable festival is truly a showcase of Latin American shorts and the largest annual display for Brazilian films. Marked as a grand event, it attracted approximately 28,000 spectators in 2005.
The festival comes with special programs that bring the short branches into a diversity of forms, including retrospectives, tributes, and also recent digital films made in the outskirts of big cities around Brazil.
In 2005, some 466 films were exhibited from 57 different countries. Out of 396 Latin American films, 270 were Brazilian productions. There was free entrance in the 11 screening rooms in São Paulo. The audience just could not stop applauding their favorite stars who received the awards very graciously.
Every year the event dedicates its focus to a theme, a concept, a country etc.
