This is a traditional Italian Festival organized by the local church
“Paroquia de Nossa Senhora da Archiropita”.
The festival is celebrated by selling Italian food, sweets, snacks and crafts along two streets in the Bixiga- a traditional Italian neighborhood. The festival is usually held in the month of August.
More than 200 thousand visitors come to attend the function in around 11 days of partying. The party of Mrs. Achiropita is, without a doubt, one of the most traditional of São Paulo. This is one of the best features to showcase the cultural and ethnic diversity of the city.
These are the 11 festive nights always held on Saturdays and Sundays of August to the beginning of September.
In order to prepare for the spectacular festival, 35 varied tents are installed to vendors in the month of May itself. The festival has such a magical attraction that it is impossible to resist exotic delicacies like fogazzas, macarronadas, polentas, antepasti, peperoni, melanzanas to the authentic pizzas.
Admission is free.
