This Museum aims to widen the range of its collections and its exhibitions to cover all the contemporary movements in the art world.
Its purpose is to create a cultural site which enables the promotion and project the importance of MAC. Located in the main campus of USP, MAC USP is a place for research, education and information.
The museum's activities are designed to provide people with the opportunity to encounter, enjoy and learn about masterpieces of art. For the convenience of the visitors, it provides information in different languages such as- Portuguese, Spanish and English. The museum promotes mutual understanding among people of different cultures and helps foster a society that appreciates the true value of art.
Today, MAC USP has nearly 8,000 pieces of art, including paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, engravings, sculptures and conceptual works, constituting a great cultural heritage with national and international influences.
Works of artists such as Anita Malfatti, Di Cavalcante, Brecheret, among others, are displayed.

Posted by Laura, 05 March, 2008Whenever I need some quite time alone, I always go to Museu de Arte Contemporanea. I am fascinated with artworks in general. Merely walking through this museum feels so peaceful. Looking through their exhibits, arts and great paintings is pretty splendid.
