The Museum of Image and Sound showcases the best Brazilian contemporary image makers. Various changing exhibitions are always enticing. The photographs are beautifully displayed and are linked with contemporary themes such as romance and media manipulation.

It is nestled in an intriguing concrete building located right next door to the Museu Brasiliero da Escultura. The Museum of the Image and the Sound was created at a moment when the country was undergoing growth and modernization.

The aim of the museum is to provide a venue where you are forced to think and therefore spend an extra hour perusing fine works. Due to financial problems the museum often closes between exhibits, sometimes for extended periods.

A group of intellectuals and cultural producers namely, Rudá de Andrade, Francisco Luíz de Almeida Salles and others got worried about the imminent disappearance of significant cultural and artistic experiences of the agricultural life and urban native of São Paulo. Therefore it led to the construction of a quantity of images and sounds that focused on them and are displayed in the museum.
